- Texas Environmental Democrats of Austin welcomes guest Chris Kirksey, Austin Energy’s Senior Vice President of Power Production, to our next monthly meeting April 23rd. Chris Kirksey will talk about our city’s power needs and the future of electrical generation.
- Our bylaws require a 60% supermajority to win our endorsement. We endorsed just two candidates on March 26th: Tim Mahoney for Austin Community College and Lee Leffingwell for City Council Place 1. Congrats to both, and thanks especially to all the candidates running–without candidates, voters would not have a choice.
- The next endorsement meeting will be held on Wednesday March 26th at 6:00 p.m. It address the Austin City Council, Austin Community College, and Austin Independent School District races. Location: Gardner-Betts Juvenile Center, 2515 South Congress Ave. The candidates were asked to fill out questionnaires.
- Our state organization of Texas Environmental Democrats will have its quarterly meeting this Saturday, March 15, immediately following the State Democratic Executive Committee meeting. We anticipate the TED meeting will begin around 2 or 2:30 at the Austin Marriott North located at 2600 La Frontera Blvd., Round Rock, TX 78681. TED will be in the La Frontera I conference room. While TED of Austin has been successful in keeping the environment at the top of our local candidates’ agendas, we always need help supporting efforts at the state level. Come if you can!
